See this 19-year-old undergraduate who is doing so much towards social impact in Lagos state.
Hey there! Welcome to the maiden edition of The Penterview, a lovely session with resourceful people who are doing a lot to impact their community.
Today, we would be interviewing an excellent mind, who is passionate about social impact. Take a seat (I guess you probably have 😉) you're gonna enjoy this read.
My name is Abdulrasaq Omowunmi Wasilat, the convener of Caregivers. I'm an undergraduate of Sociology in Lagos State University Ojo, also a volunteer at Seap Foundation. I am a giver, a makeup artist, I'm friendly. My hobbies are reading, meeting new people and talking. Yeah, I talk a lot 😁

T.P: What made you think of starting a charity organization?
Nothing really, I just felt it's not a bad idea if I give back to the community, so I started helping people in my own little way. While awaiting admission into the university last year, I just decided to create something and with the help of some trusted friends, the journey of Caregivers began.
T.P: What does 'Caregivers' stand for?
Our mission is:
1. To offer an impulsive act of kindness to people
2. To provide food and other relief materials
3. To put a smile on people's faces, touch and save lives
4. To help the poor, needy, less privileged and homeless.

T.P: Can you tell us about the outreaches you've organized?
Our first outreach was at Little Saints Orphanage, Dopemu Lagos on 21st December 2019. It was themed 'Operation Smile 1.0' and was a fun-filled day at the orphanage where we had a D.J play, dancing competition, and different types of games, lots of food and drinks, and even a cake. We were able to donate food materials and toiletries to the orphanage. That was our first and only project. the 2nd one is coming up July 25 2020.
T.P: What is the next grand step of the organization towards the community?
Our next grand step towards the community is eradicating hunger. Food is one of the essentials in life, and we have seen a lot of children who struggle to eat daily, but if we can eradicate hunger then the world would worth living for people.
T.P: How do you see 'Caregivers' in the next ten years?
In the next ten years, I see Caregivers to have grown very big and will be known both home and abroad for giving out to people in need we will have eradicated hunger and be able to provide free meals and education for children and adult in need and even jobs for unemployed people.
Caregivers is organizing another outreach themed Operation Smile 2.0 to commemorate our first year anniversary. We need your support in cash or kind to put a smile on children's faces.
The aim is to feed 2000 children on the street who are struggling to eat. Every donation made will help us feed children in need.
